The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy reports that Argentina has become the first country in the world to approve a new technology for controlling grassy weeds resistant to commonly used herbicides (such as glyphosate, for example), a product that offers an urgent solution for farmers who are currently working with tools that are becoming less and less effective.
Resistant weeds pose a major threat to farmers, as they not only survive standard herbicides but also compete with crops for nutrients, sunlight, and water. Furthermore, they serve as hosts or vectors for various types of pests, fungi, viruses, and bacteria, which can significantly reduce crop yields.

In this regard, this new technology is designed to control these resistant grassy weeds in key crops such as soybeans and cotton, as well as in pre-emergence applications on cereals and corn. The product’s active ingredient (the molecule) was approved by the National Service for Agrifood Health and Quality (SENASA) on December 15, 2025; its formulation was approved in April 2026; and it was officially launched on the market in June of this year.
